SURPRISE!!! Another blog post for today! Whaaaaat?!
Just a quick and simple post for you guys, BUT it’s a good one! I promise. I owe you a few more this week because I’ve been a little busy and MIA 🙂
5 FAVORITE SUPP’S – LET’S GO!
Supplements are NOT necessary when lifting, or doing a workout routine. They do however fill in those little cracks in your nutrition where you may be lacking. They do exactly what they are called, supplement your diet.
1: HIT YOUR PROTEIN – NO EXCUSES!
My #1 supplement to always have on hand is Protein Powder. I find it really hard to hit my protein goals for the day when I don’t have protein powder in the house. I like to try to get my protein from whole foods like chicken, turkey, and eggs/egg whites. BUT my pre-workout meal always consists of a protein shake mixed with water and Rice Chex cereal! I try to stick to only two servings of protein powder or less, a day! My favorite protein to drink is Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey in Chocolate! It’s an awesome protein that is low in sugar and fats for that perfect pre-workout or post-workout shake! (And I can get it at Costco!)
Another great protein that I love is from Slap Nutrition! They have awesome CLEAN protein powders, and they have awesome flavors as well! They just re-did all of their flavors to be a little sweeter, and just LOOK at all of these amazing flavors you can get now! They sound SO yummy!
2: SORE MUSCLES – NO PROBLEM!
My #2 favorite supplement to have is Branch Chain Amino Acids. I love having these each day after my workouts, and in between my meals. They help aid in recovery and help with soreness! My favorite brand to use in water, is Optimum Nutrition’s Amino Energy. It has a little bit of caffeine to give me that energy boost, as well as give me my BCAA’s! I LOVE the watermelon flavor, because who doesn’t like watermelon?!
Another favorite BCAA of mine to drink is Slap Nutrition’s Salted Caramel 8-Bit BCAA! I mix this one in my coffee (about half a scoop) and it makes it taste so yummy and sweet! A great way to get your Amino’s in!
3: ENERGY BOOOOOOST!
That 4:00AM alarm comes QUICK most mornings, and I really want to sleep in! If I do sleep in, my workouts don’t happen until after lunch when the kids go down to nap, and it is HOT in my garage gym. It is NAT fun. So when my morning alarm goes off I really have to push myself to get up and get myself ready. First thing I do is chug my pre-workout drink, and then I make my Rice Chex and Protein. By the time I have eaten and gotten ready for my workout, my pre-workout is giving me those jitters and I’m ready to go! My go to pre workout is C4 Explosive Energy in Watermelon!
4: GIVE ME THAT PUMP!
My go-to creatine is Con-Cret HCL creatine powder in Pineapple! This type of creatine is awesome because it uses Micro Doses for your specific body weight. When I use Creatine HCL I don’t feel any bloating or gassiness which is awesome :). When I use normal creatine that is a Monohydrate, I tend to feel pretty bloated. Even if I only take one scoop per day.
5: RELAX, BRO!
My last favorite supplement to take, is a magnesium powder! I also get this supplement from Slap Nutrition! I take it every night before bed. I find that it helps me to relax, and actually sleep better at night. If you want to read more on this supplement, I did a whole post about it 🙂 I’ll link it HERE. I also take this before big events if I’m feeling a little nervous or anxious.
There are my TOP 5 favorite supplements to take! Remember, supplements aren’t necessary. They are just there to fill those gaps in your nutrition where you might be lacking.
Let me know if you have any questions at all 🙂 I’ll be happy to answer them!
